It is without a doubt that Taman Subang Ria has been a hot topic in recent times. The talk of developing the popular landmark of Subang Jaya has raised concerns from certain quarters of the community who are not be made privy to the facts concerning the proposed development and upgrading plans for Taman Subang Ria.

As a developer that is committed to developing a sustainable future for the communities of our townships, Sime Darby Property shares your concerns and truly understands the reservations for such development as many would fear the desecration of the environment and the park that has been a part of their lives for so long.

This is why we are making every effort to reach out to all residents of Subang Jaya as we feel that once our intentions are clearly understood, the concerns of residents will be addressed. The change we have in store for the park will only be in the form of additional and better facilities with ‘green’ features, which is part of our plan to transform the park into a free urban facility that promotes healthy urban living in a secure, well-equipped environment, before the park is handed over to the Authority.

In totality, the proposed exclusive low-rise residential development, together with the upgrading of the park will transform Taman Subang Ria into a renowned development with world-class recreational facilities. It will be a win-win proposition with the public benefiting most from the upgrade of the park.

We feel that as a community member of Subang Jaya, you deserve a better perspective of how such development would impact your quality of life and we hope that we are able to clear whatever doubts that you may have in relation to the proposed development plans for Taman Subang Ria.

Your thoughts on this matter is highly appreciated and therefore, we hope that you will take a moment of your time study this pull-out. Your feedback is most valuable to us and we hope you will take this opportunity to be the voice that will decide the future of Taman Subang Ria.

Q1) How was the park made available to Sime UEP in 1988?
Taman Subang Ria has been made available to Sime Darby through an application of state land measuring approx. 72 acres which was approved in 1987. The land title was then issued in 1988.

Q2) Will the TSR development further reduce the amount of Green Area in Subang Jaya?
No, in fact the green area in Subang Jaya will increase from 7% to 10.2% once Taman Subang Ria is developed and handed over to local authorities.

Q3) Is there independent traffic assessment & environmental impact assessment done on the proposed development?
Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been done before and submitted along with the proposed development in 2007. A new TIA and EIA will be carried out prior to submission of the new proposal. We are open to suggestions on any consultants to be appointed to undertake the studies.

Q4) Will the new access road, widening of jogging/walking/cycling track result in the cutting down of trees in the area?
No trees will be cut for the widening of the jogging and cycling track as the track is designed to go around the existing trees. As for the trees along the main access road, they will be relocated, however some trees that can’t be saved (due to its condition) will be replaced. On top of that, rainforest trees will be planted at designated areas in Taman Subang Ria as part of the greenery upgrading plans.

Q5) The lake serves as a retention pond, what is the impact if the size is reduced due to the development?
The lake is an abandoned tin mine and does not serve as a retention pond. The size of the lake will not be reduced as only embankment strengthening works will be done as part of the upgrade plans.

" My main concern is the infrastructure. With additional 250 units and also more cars going into the park, that's going to build up traffic at Persiaran Kewajipan.

We are already lacking in greens so please leave our little park as a park. Have more activity areas for the kids, more exercise equipments (like the ones in Taman Jaya), plant more trees, make it spacious with ample carparks. Make it into a park that all Subang Jaya residents will be proud of.

" I think Sime's latest proposal is acceptable and is the best way forward to overcome the long-running saga of Taman Subang Ria. The plans look good and we can insist on terms and conditions like a "warranty period" so that Sime provide repairs if things are not up to standard. "

" The green lung should be retained as a green lung. As is, there is a serious lack of greenery in the Klang Valley and this is one of the most appealing features of Subang Jaya."
