Q1) How was the park made available to Sime UEP in 1988?
Taman Subang Ria has been made available to Sime Darby through an application of state land measuring approx. 72 acres which was approved in 1987. The land title was then issued in 1988.
Q2) Will the TSR development further reduce the amount of Green Area in Subang Jaya?
No, in fact the green area in Subang Jaya will increase from 7% to 10.2% once Taman Subang Ria is developed and handed over to local authorities.
Q3) Is there independent traffic assessment & environmental impact assessment done on the proposed development?
Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been done before and submitted along with the proposed development in 2007. A new TIA and EIA will be carried out prior to submission of the new proposal. We are open to suggestions on any consultants to be appointed to undertake the studies.
Q4) Will the new access road, widening of jogging/walking/cycling track result in the cutting down of trees in the area?
No trees will be cut for the widening of the jogging and cycling track as the track is designed to go around the existing trees. As for the trees along the main access road, they will be relocated, however some trees that can’t be saved (due to its condition) will be replaced. On top of that, rainforest trees will be planted at designated areas in Taman Subang Ria as part of the greenery upgrading plans.
Q5) The lake serves as a retention pond, what is the impact if the size is reduced due to the development?
The lake is an abandoned tin mine and does not serve as a retention pond. The size of the lake will not be reduced as only embankment strengthening works will be done as part of the upgrade plans.
